Your portfolio of artwork is evidence of your artistic skills and concepts. A good portfolio is an indication to schools that you are a creative and talented student who will work hard and be successful. The Ashcan Studio Art High School Portfolio Preparation is a seven-week-long program. Under the guidance of Ashcan Art’s instructors, students will participate in studio work, producing cohesive series of artworks using conventional and unconventional material in innovative ways.
Variety of subject matter, tailored to your skills and interests: Still-lives, self-portraits, landscapes, narrative, drawings, paintings, sculptures, mixed media, more.

Every year, Ashcan helps many 7~8th graders who are planning to apply for specialized art high schools such as Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, LaGuardia High School, and Art & Design High School, with our up-to-date information regarding the application and audition process of these schools. Each school has different procedures, requirements, and deadlines for auditions and portfolio specified, which we guide our students from start to finish in accurate details. For these students, we follow our philosophy of individual creativity and experimentation, but also focus a bit more on the development of a strong visual art portfolio.
