PASTEL TECHNIQUE for grade 3-5 [Winter Spring 2026 / Flushing]

In this course, learn techniques and characteristics of soft pastels and pastel pencils and how it is utilized in landscape art. The main goal of this course is to study how the material behaves on different toned surfaces, through color layering, mark making techniques, and blending techniques, while creating successful landscape drawings. Students will learn how to use linear perspective and atmospheric perspective to create depth of space on a flat surface for landscape drawing, and how to render a realistic texture using pastels for common landscape subjects such as trees, waters, and clouds.
